ACT I - Call to the place
SARA CRUZ - The guest designer with Cruz in both the brand and the name.
The installation of flags will function as a “beacon” in the space, using its privileged location to invite the community to (re)discover this place.
Made from fabrics and reflective materials, the flags aim to give this location a “skin” that it previously lacked—one that invites and welcomes anyone who passes by and wishes to stay.
Sara Cruz, a native of Torres Vedras and a graduate in Graphic Design from the School of Arts and Design of Caldas da Rainha, is the designer invited to create this installation, which will consist of seventeen flags mounted on poles.
Embedded within Laboratório do Lugar, a creative platform for thinking about the Territory, it is part of an action program based on an ideas competition aimed at schools of architecture and design, with the goal of fostering competitive and sustained territorial development.
Grounded in several conceptual frameworks such as Tactical Urbanism, Performance Architecture, and Urban Acupuncture, Laboratório do Lugar develops through a very close dialogue with the territories themselves, and above all with their people.
Vitrais de Vento
Wind Stained Glass, In a place of memory, where many find comfort, flags rise as if they were a cathedral of wind, whose colored stained glass we might contemplate.
How many experiences, perspectives, and viewpoints can we have through the influence of sunlight and the movement of colors, shadows, and textures that merge with the natural landscape and the vastness of the sea?
